It has come to the attention of Avaya SMBS Support that in several cases, the default incoming call route has been deleted from the configuration by the either the maintainer or the end-user and not replaced by a similar call route.
The purpose of an incoming call route is to allow for calls that do not have an incoming number specified to be routed to a ‘catch all’ address.
If an incoming call route for this purpose is not specified, these calls cannot be routed, and the caller will hear busy tone.
If an incoming call route with a blank incoming number and blank destination is specified, incoming external calls may be routed externally, as the lack of a specified destination means that the incoming number will be checked against the system shortcode list.
For a default system, with a dial shortcode of ‘?’, the incoming number will be passed to the system shortcode list, and may be rung externally.
For this reason, it is recommended that the default incoming call route with a blank incoming number field not be deleted, and that a valid on switch destination be set.
