It has come to the attention of Avaya that the relay ports on IP Office systems are being used to control security doors in sensitive environments.
While the relay port facility can be used to control virtually any device that can be connected to the port, it should be noted that this feature was not originally intended for use in this sort of environment.
In addition it should also be noted that due to the design of the IP Office Small Office Edition, the relay port is opened and closed twice each time the IP Office is reset.
On other IP Office systems, the relay port is still opened and closed as an unavoidable part of the IP Office start up process.
For this reason, using the IP Office to control a security door is not recommended.
