211: Voicemail Pro Call flow names using accented or non-English characters

29th August 2008 - Full PDF Text Version

This Technical Tip is to advise customers about an issue in Voicemail Pro 4.2(19) with customized call flows where the user name, group name, or module name contains accented or non-English characters, for example á, é, í, ó, ú and ñ.

If any of the names contain accented or non-English characters then there is a possibility that the customized call flows will be ignored and default Voicemail behavior will be observed instead of the customized actions.

A private build 4.2.19.4 is available to correct this specific issue, based on 4.2(19) GA. The private build consists of 2 executables, VMProV5Svc.exe, which is the Voicemail Pro service, and VoicemailPro.exe which is the Voicemail Pro Client. Both of these must be installed to rectify the issue.

Installation Instructions

  1. Stop the VoiceMail Pro service.

  2. Ensure that the VoiceMail Pro Client is not running.

  3. Replace the existing VMProV5Svc.exe file, this can be found at:
    C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail Pro\VM

  4. Replace the existing VoicemailPro.exe file, this can be found at:
    C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail Pro

  5. Restart the VoiceMail Pro service.

This private build also contains a fix for an issue where a call flow would not play a recording if the wav file name contained accented or non-English characters, for example "répondeur.wav".

Please contact your support organization for details of how to obtain this private build.

A fix will be included in the Q4 2008 maintenance release.
