This Technical Tip is to advise customers of a change to the level of software pre-loaded on new Unified Communications Modules (UCM). It also provides guidance on downgrading the UCM should the IP Office system be running 8.1 software.
With the GA availability of IP Office Release 9, new IP Office Unified Communications Modules will be delivered from the factory with the 9.0.0.0 build 78 software image. A UCM with 9.0 software pre-loaded can be identified from the package label as "PCS 10". The following table details the new UCM item code information:

The UCM must be running the same software release and service pack level as the IP Office system. For example, if a UCM is running software from Service Pack 6 the IP Office system must also be upgraded to the software included with Service Pack 6.
If the IP Office system is running Release 8.1 software, a new UCM at PCS 10 or greater must be downgraded to 8.1.
